Todd Duffee released by UFC

In a surprising move, the UFC has released heavyweight prospect Todd Duffee, MMAJunkie.com reported.

Duffee (6-1, 1-1 UFC) made his UFC debut in record-setting fashion, knocking out Tim Hague in just 24 seconds at UFC 102.

In his next bout, the 24-year-old faced Mike Russow at UFC 114. Duffee dominated the fight for two plus rounds before Russow knocked him out in a stunning comeback.

Duffee had been scheduled to face Jon Madsen at UFC 121, but a lingering injury forced him off the card. There  is no word yet as to whether that injury played a part in his release.

Ruediger vs. Kelly on tap for UFC 123

A lightweight bout between Gabe Ruediger and Paul Kelly will take place at UFC 123 in Detroit, MMAWeekly.com reported.

Ruediger (17-6, 0-2 UFC) had a rough return to the Octagon at UFC 118, getting manhandled and submitted by Joe Lauzon in a fight that Ruediger took on short notice. Now, it appears that he will get one more shot at the UFC, this time with a full training camp.

Kelly (10-3, 4-3 UFC) is 2-2 in his last four UFC fights, and will look to avoid losing his second fight in a row.

Ruediger last three fights:
Loss (Submission - Arm bar): Joe Lauzon - UFC 118
Win (TKO): Lenny Lovato - Tachi Palace Fights 5
Win (Submission - Rear naked choke): Dominique Robinson - Tachi Palace Fights 3

Kelly last three fights:
Loss (Unanimous Decision): Jacob Volkmann - UFC Live on Versus 2
Win (Submission - Guillotine): Matt Veach - UFC 112
Loss (TKO): Dennis Siver - UFC 105
